The London based technology brand Nothing has officially expanded its smartphone lineup with the global launch of the Nothing Phone 4a series today March 5 2026. This highly anticipated release introduces two distinct models the standard Nothing Phone 4a and the high performance Nothing Phone 4a Pro. By offering a dual model approach in the “a series” for the first time Nothing is clearly aiming to capture a larger slice of the mid range and premium mid range markets. The launch event also saw the debut of the Nothing Headphone (a) further growing the brand’s unique hardware ecosystem.
Redefining Design with the New Glyph Bar
Nothing has always been synonymous with its transparent aesthetic and the Phone 4a series takes this a step further with a refreshed lighting interface. The standard Nothing Phone 4a introduces the “Glyph Bar” which is a vertical strip of mini LEDs located on the rear panel. This new design features six square lights and nine programmable LEDs that are significantly brighter than previous generations.
This Glyph Bar is not just a visual gimmick; it serves as a functional dashboard for the user. It can display essential information like charging progress a countdown timer for the “Sand Timer” feature and even custom light patterns for different contacts. A new addition to the “a series” is the red recording LED which pulses when video recording is active. The Phone 4a Pro however takes inspiration from the flagship series by featuring a more complex Glyph Matrix that supports interactive “Glyph Toys” and mini games.

Performance sees a massive leap forward in this generation. The standard Nothing Phone 4a is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset built on a 4nm process for superior efficiency. This processor is paired with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of fast UFS 3.1 storage. For power users the Phone 4a Pro raises the bar with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset delivering near flagship speeds and enhanced AI capabilities.
Both devices are among the first to ship with Nothing OS 4.0 based on the latest Android 16. The software experience remains clean and minimal with new features like “Wings Notification” and “Dolphin Notification” that synchronize system alerts with the rear LED lights. Nothing has also committed to three years of major OS updates and four years of security patches for both models.
A First for the A Series The Periscope Camera
Photography enthusiasts have a lot to be excited about with the Nothing Phone 4a series. In a move that disrupts the mid range segment Nothing has included a periscope telephoto camera on the base model for the first time. The triple camera setup consists of a 50MP primary sensor with Optical Image Stabilization a 50MP ultra wide lens and a 50MP periscope sensor capable of 3.5x optical zoom.
The use of a compact tetra prism system allows the Phone 4a to offer professional grade zoom capabilities without adding excessive bulk to the chassis. On the front a 32MP selfie camera ensures high resolution video calls and portraits. The Pro model further enhances this setup with a larger primary sensor and improved low light processing making it a formidable tool for mobile content creators.
Display Quality and Battery Longevity
The visual experience is centered around a stunning 6.78 inch AMOLED display on the standard model featuring a 1.5K resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The Phone 4a Pro goes even further with a 144Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of up to 3000 nits making it easily readable even under direct sunlight. Both screens are protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for added durability.
To power these high refresh rate displays Nothing has increased the battery capacity to 5400mAh on both variants. Charging is also faster than ever with support for 50W wired fast charging. While wireless charging remains exclusive to the flagship Phone 3 the 4a series focuses on providing long lasting endurance for a full day of heavy usage.
Global Pricing and Availability
The Nothing Phone 4a series is available in four vibrant colors Black White Pink and Blue. In India the standard Nothing Phone 4a starts at a competitive price of 31999 Rupees for the 8GB and 128GB variant. The Phone 4a Pro is positioned slightly higher starting at approximately 40000 Rupees.
In India the devices will be sold exclusively through Flipkart with a special first drop event scheduled at the Nothing Store in Bengaluru on March 7 2026. Global customers can expect general availability to begin in the second week of March.
